Eckhart Tolle Top 10 Watkins 100 Spiritual List

1. Eckhart Tolle. Tolle does not advocate any particular religion, and has contributed to a wide range of spirituality. Eckhart’s profound yet simple teachings have helped countless people throughout the world find inner peace and greater fulfillment in their lives. At the core of the teachings lies the transformation of consciousness, a spiritual awakening that he sees as the next step in human evolution. His books, The Power of Now and the highly-acclaimed follow-up A New Earth are two of the best-selling Mind, Body, Spirit books in the world – more than eight million copies have been sold in North America alone. He deliberately avoided setting up an ashram or centre as he cautions that “one needs to be careful that the organization doesn’t become self-serving”.

‘Egypt is free! Egypt is free!’

As I prepare to post my article, the above is the breaking news as Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak has resigned.

egypt1 Revolution, Injustice & Corruption. What Would You Do With 60 Billion dollars?

It is estimated that Egypt’s corrupt and disgraced leader, the defiant president Mubarak has holdings worth 60 billion dollars accrued over 30 years of rule. The disconnect is the people. They are fed up and are not going to take it anymore. Is this a revolution in the making?

It seems that a much smaller country, Tunisia, the northern most country in Africa is the spark that ignited Arab unrest. And rattled the Arab world leaders because they see themselves vulnerable to the truth of the tyranny and corruption they have wrought on their citizens for too many decades.

Tunisia’s president of 23 years, Zine El Abidine Ben Ali, recently fled to Saudi Arabia as authorities declared a state of emergency following deadly protests nationwide.

Wordle – Make Your Word Clouds

Wordle is a cool toy for generating “word clouds” from text that you provide. The clouds give greater prominence to words that appear more frequently in the source text. You can tweak your clouds with different fonts, layouts, and color schemes. The images you create with Wordle are yours to use however you like. You can print them out, or save them to the Wordle gallery to share with your friends.

Create your own Wordle

In this example I simply created a word cloud of all my twitter posts from yesterday. The power of the written word displayed in a very cool way.

Self-Awareness

When one neuron in our brains has the capacity to produce thousand connections with other neurons, the amount of possible connections is more than the universe has atoms. As you can imagine, in this complexity the self-awareness cannot be too simplistic to be expressed as being composed of only one factor, but from many.

1. What Is Self-Awareness?

Self-awareness is commonly seen as something that is separate from the thoughts that emerge to our mind. It has also been considered as the area where we are aware of our own existence. And, when the content of our awareness is the substance of our conscious existence, we cannot separate thought, emotion, reason, or innate instincts from the domain of our self-awareness. It is also the area of our being where we reflect the set of our personal beliefs of existence. After our births, we gain these beliefs from the modern content of this realm, and yet, these beliefs can originate from thousands of years from the past. You can reflect your self with the standards of the society, or expectations you have created for you. The self-awareness is also characterized as the experience of our continual being in constantly exceeding present time. In essence, the transient experiences of our self and the experiences we go through.

Lots of interesting references to the origins of Halloween.
Did you know that the custom of “trick or treating” dates back to the middle ages?

It is believed that the need to ward off harmful spirits led to the wearing of costumes and masks. Their purpose was to disguise oneself as a harmful spirit and thus avoid harm.

Halloween (or Hallowe’en) is an annual holiday observed on October 31. It has roots in the Celtic festival of Samhain and the Christian holiday All Saints’ Day.

3 Steps to Self Improvement – the Childish Way

It’s something all of us aspire to achieve, but unless we consciously choose to get rid of our weaknesses and promote our strengths, there is no way to self improvement. Improving the self is an exercise that is sporadic at best – to make it work on a continuous basis, you must be constantly aware of your thoughts and actions and be able to steer them towards a more positive direction.

Self improvement starts with self awareness, and that’s one of the reasons why it’s possible to observe much from the world of children in taking your first steps towards improving yourself:

relations 300x207 Relationship Trouble: Why It’s Almost Always About You and Not the Other Person

“Problems in relationships occur because each person is concentrating on what is missing in the other person. “ ~Wayne Dyer
Our love relationships can bring out the child in us. Not just childish behaviors, although they bring out plenty of those too. I’m talking about the real child we once were umpteen years ago when we lived at home with parents and siblings and two cats in the yard. Or whatever your experience happened to be.

If you had a pretty good childhood without too many traumas or disruptions, then you probably got most of your emotional and physical needs met. If it was a more tumultuous upbringing, then you may still carry some of the scars and unmet needs created during your younger years.
