Three English singles players reached the quarter-finals at the RSL Lithuanian International.
Miu Lin Ngan fought her way through qualifying and won four matches to make the last eight in Panevėžys.
One highlight was a 21-19 21-8 win over Portugal’s Madalena Fortunato, seeding third in qualifying, to reach the main draw.
She beat Poland’s Joanna Rudna in three games and then Estonia’s Catlyn Kruus, before falling 21-13 21-12 to impressive Indonesian Chiara Marvella Handoyo.
Freya Redfearn, seeded sixth in women’s singles, reached the same stage with a pair of clinical wins but succumbed 22-20 21-9 to second seed Malya Hoareau.
Heng Lin Ngan was the other English player to make the quarter-finals.
He did so thanks to a 21-19 21-14 win against compatriot Ethan Rose before losing to Jason Christ Alexander of Indonesia.
Cholan Kayan was seeded sixth in men’s singles and lost in the first round, where Harry Huang’s hopes also ended.
