But, says physician Brian Goldman, medicine’s culture of denial (and shame) keeps doctors from ever talking about those mistakes, or using them to learn and improve. Telling stories from his own long practice, he calls on doctors to start talking about being wrong.TEDTalks is a daily video podcast of the best talks and performances from the TED Conference, where the world’s leading thinkers and doers give the talk of their lives in 18 minutes. Money can buy you happiness, but maybe not in the way you think.
It seems that spending money on others (pro-social spending) makes most people happier than spending money on themselves (personal spending).
A lot of research has shown that there is only a weak link between personal happiness and how much money people have.
On a global scale, happiness is strongly associated with income up to a level where people have a roof over their head and the basic needs safely covered.
Having more money than this does not necessarily make you happier.
One factor that affects how happy you are on a particular income is comparison.
If you have adequate income to cover simple needs and live amongst others with similar income levels, you will most likely be reasonably happy (assuming no other major problems). But if you have your nose rubbed into the wealth of your neighbours and through TV ads, you may be less happy. Read more...(409 words, 1 image, estimated 1:38 mins reading time)
www.RenegadeHealth.com – Wow! Episode #17 already… This is a great and QUICK raw food recipe for ceasar salad dressing. After my attempt to make a quinoa meal and film it (luckly, that didn’t make the Renegade Health Show final cut), Annmarie asked if she could show everyone how to prepare meals. I said sure–as long as they tasted good–it would take all the prep off of me. And frankly, I don’t prep much. The most I do is cut a mango or chop some salad and put it in the bowl. So here’s the raw food recipe for ceasar dressing…

This is the kind of story you need when the world is going a little crazy.
Freedom and I have been together 10 years this summer.
She came in as a baby eagle in 1998 with two broken wings.
Her left wing doesn’t open all the way even after surgery,
it was broken in 4 places. She’s my baby.
When Freedom came in she could not stand and both wings
were broken. She was emaciated and covered in lice. We made the
decision to give her a chance at life, so I took her to the vets office.
From then on, I was always around her. We had her in a
huge dog carrier with the top off, and it was loaded up
with shredded newspaper for her to lay in.
I used to sit and talk to her, urging her to live, to fight;
and she would lay there looking at me with those big brown eyes.
We also had to tube feed this eagle baby for weeks. Read more...(773 words, 2 images, estimated 3:06 mins reading time)
