National School Championships 2023/2024
National KS3 & KS4 Schools Competition
Badminton England are pleased to announce that our National School Championships will be returning for 2023/24 and registration is now OPEN.
Detailed below are the age groups, format, and dates for the Championships. The finals will be held at the National Badminton Centre on the weekend of the 20th and 21st April. We are running this year’s event with limited resources, and therefore we have taken the decision to charge to enter the Championships. Each school will be required to pay £15 per team to enter the competition. Schools will be given the option to host both local and regional rounds. The competition will run for the following age groups.
- Girls Key Stage 3 (years 7, 8 and 9)
- Boys Key Stage 3 (years 7, 8 and 9)
- Girls Key Stage 4 (years 10 and 11)*
- Boys Key Stage 4 (years 10 and 11)*
*Unlike in previous years, we will allow players to play up into the key stage 4 event. However, players will not be able to play down.
- Teams will consist of 4 players, arranged in order by their singles strength.
- Each match will consist of 5 games: 2 x singles and 3 x doubles, with each player playing 2 games. 1st Game: Singles (No.1 ranked player in the team). 2nd Game: Doubles (the 2 players not selected for a singles game). 3rd Game: Singles (No. 2 or 3 ranked player chosen for singles). 4th Game: Doubles (first singles player + either one of non-singles players). 5th Game: Doubles (second singles player + the other non-singles player).
Detailed below are the dates each round with be required to be completed by
Round 1, local round, completed by the 30th November
Round 2, county round, completed by 1st February
Round 3, inter county round, completed by 14th March
Finals will be held at the National Badminton Centre on the weekend of the 20th and 21st April
