European & World Senior Championships
The European and World Senior Championships are each held every 2 years, taking turns to be held each year.
These Championships are strongly supported by England masters players, and they are a fantastic opportunity to compete on the very highest stage and be part of the camaraderie of the England contingent attending.
- European Senior Championships 2022: See the report here.
- World Championships, Korea, 11-17 September 2023 – more information will be available once the official invitation is received.
- European Championships, Belgium, 2024 (expected to be August, but TBC)
Players interested in attending should ensure they carefully read the World and European Championships – Masters Selection Policy below.
World Senior Championships 2023:
Please find attached the following information relating to the World Senior Championships 2023, taking place in Korea in September:
- England’s information and invitation letter providing instructions on how to apply to enter
- BWF’s invitation to Member Associations*, which contains all the relevant tournament information (please note that all entries must be made through Badminton England not directly to BWF)
- The Selection Policy relating to this event.
Please read all information carefully before submitting your entry to ensure you understand and comply with the conditions of entry.
Accommodation: The organisers have not yet provided the information about hotels as this is still being finalised. Once it is received it will be published on the Badminton England below.
*Notes on the BWF Invitation: We have noticed that there are some errors and areas where there is a lack of clarity in the BWF invitation. Please see some further clarity below:
- Passports: BWF have asked that we collect and submit passports for any players who have not previously played in a BWF World Senior Championships rather than players doing it themselves.
- Seeding: the date of the European Championships should be 2022
- Clothing: the invitation says names on shirts are mandatory, however they are only recommended (per the regulations).
- Practice courts will be booked by us on your behalf
- Medal Ceremonies: there will be two sessions, but it is unknown which finals will be played in which session so you should plan to be there until the end to collect medals.
- Accreditation: we are awaiting further information about how this needs to be done.
- Accommodation and Transport: where the BWF invite says Teams, it should say Players (as this is an individual tournament).
