Two English pairings reached the quarter-finals of the men’s doubles event at the YONEX Estonian International in Tallinn.
Alex Green and Brandon Yap beat a seeded pairing on their way to the last eight, while Oliver Butler and Samuel Jones also reached the same stage.
Green and Yap started their campaign in fine style, with an impressive straight games victory over Swedish duo Andre Irpola and Max Svensson.Â
And they then picked up a fantastic victory over French pair Kenji Lovang and Leo Rossi, with Green and Yap beating the eighth seeds 21-14 22-20 to reach the last eight.
Their campaign then came to an end with a hard-fought 21-17 21-19 loss to Weijie Jia and Xun Liew of Malaysia, though there were plenty of positives for Green and Yap to take from their week.
The same can be said for Butler and Jones who also picked up two strong victories before falling at the last eight stage.
The duo started their tournament with a solid victory over Natan Begga and Kimi Lovang of France, before a fantastic 21-19 21-19 triumph over a second French duo of Louis Ducrot and Romain Frank.
Despite a strong effort, Butler and Jones were beaten 21-10 21-16 by Japanese third seeds – and eventual tournament champions – Shuntaro Mezaki and Haruya Nishida in their quarter-final clash.
Elsewhere, Green was also in mixed doubles action, with he and partner Lizzie Tolman coming through qualifying to reach the main draw.
However, their campaign came to an end in the opening round to Julien Maio and Lea Palermo of France.
Meanwhile, Johnnie Torjussen was in the men’s singles action in the Estonian capital, falling to Dutchman Joran Kweekel in the opening round.
Cholan Kayan impressed to come through qualifying and reach the main draw, where he impressed against eventual champion Yushi Tanaka in the opening round despite tasting defeat.
And Rohan Midha was also in action, being beaten by Denmark’s Mads Juel Moeller in the first round.Â
