Miu Lin Ngan reached the women’s singles quarter-finals at the Norwegian International 2023.
The 25-year-old beat Rachel Sugden of Scotland in the first round, defeating the seventh seed 22-20 21-5.
Ngan won eight consecutive points in the first game to build a healthy lead before Sugden came roaring back to fend off seven game points.
At the eighth time of asking, Ngan closed out the opening game and was utterly dominant in the second game, winning nine consecutive points on the way to a comfortable victory in Sandefjord.

Against Samanta Golubickaite of Lithuania in the second round, Ngan fought back from a game down to win 17-21 22-20 21-12.
The 49-minute battle saw Ngan fend off match points in the second game before taking four game points herself to close out the decider.
In the quarter-final, Ngan gave it all against Poland’s Wiktoria Dabczynska, eventually losing 24-22 21-19.
Dabczynska, the third seed, saved a game point in the first game before taking the victory after 54 minutes.
In the men’s singles, Cholan Kayan and Heng Lin Ngan both suffered first round exits – Kayan lost out to third seed Christopher Vittoriani of Italy 21-14 15-21 21-17.
Meanwhile Ngan also lost in a decider as he was defeated 18-21 21-13 21-19 by Ludvig Petre Olsson of Sweden.
