David Ng and James Song led English hopes in Lithuania, as they reached the quarter-finals of the 2023 European U17 Championships.
The pair downed fourth seeds Marek Cepela and Adam Srnec 21-18 18-21 21-11 in the round of 64 before beating Swiss duo Arnaud Boschung and Noel Tappeiner 21-17 21-14.
Ng and Song then despatched Serhii Marushchak and Danil Siedov 21-11 19-21 21-16 before eventually falling to France’s Ewan Goulin and Swann Hardi 21-4 21-15.
The other men’s doubles duo Edward Davey and Sonish Hathi fell in the round of 16, losing narrowly to Timeo Lacour and Arsene Serre 22-20 22-20.
The pair had powered their way through their opening two matches, beating Erik Hajdu and Andrej Macek 21-5 21-13 and Thomas Mabbe and Roel Pipeleers 21-13 21-18 before defeat to the eventual winners.
Ng also enjoyed a strong run in the singles, reaching the last 16 before falling to Portuguese top seed Tiago Berenguer 21-17 21-10 while Song was narrowly edged out by sixth seed Nathan Nguyen 21-15 21-19 in the round of 64.

In the women’s singles, Sia Pandit fought her way to the last 16 before losing 21-9 21-11 to fifth seed Siofra Flynn.
Pandit put on a strong showing to reach that stage, beating Vilma Aasheim Engen 21-15 21-12 and getting past Jore Kavaliauskaite 21-15 21-14 before battling past 12th seed Iona Muir 21-14 14-21 21-19.
The other result in the women’s singles saw Prarthana Reddy narrowly lose 21-19 21-13 to Wales’ Ishasriya Mekala in the round of 128.
Pandit reached the round of 32 of the women’s doubles alongside Lucy Dodd, with the pair beating Angela Jimenez and Rocio Martin 23-21 21-14 before losing 21-15 21-18 to Danish duo Caroline Mouritsen and Nicoline Tang.
Fourth seeds Lucy Brierley and Sofie Chong also exited in the round of 32 as they lost to Slovenian pairing Tinkara Alic and Tija Horvat 10-21 21-17 23-21.
Brierley was also in mixed doubles action alongside Edward Davey, with the pair falling to sixth seeds Mehmet Can Toremis and Aysu Arslan 21-11 21-16 after winning their opening two matches.
The pair beat Yigitcan Erol and Zeynep Berre Ocakoglu 21-12 21-12 in the round of 128, followed by victory over Alon Shlezinger and Aviv Schneidman 21-9 21-9 before falling to defeat to the seeded duo.
Daniel Kemp and Lucy Dodd lost to Moldova’s Nicolae Enachi and Paola Ginga 21-18 21-16 in other mixed doubles action.
